Laura Strausfeld is co-founder and Executive Director of Period Equity, a national law and policy non-profit fighting for safe, sustainable, tax-free menstrual products that are free for everyone who needs them. She initiated a 2016 class action challenging New York’s sales tax on menstrual products as unconstitutional, which led to immediate legislative repeal. In 2019, she launched the Tax Free. Period. legal campaign to challenge the 30 remaining tampon-taxing states to do the same. She is currently co-counsel on a class action challenging Michigan’s tampon tax.
